Hello there. I’m Jenni.

Or Jennifer Kaylee Schlegelmilch Trogden, if we’re being professional. Jenni’s fine.

This is my little corner of the web. HA! Totally joking. I hate it when bloggers say that. But this is my place to keep “The Things of my Soul.” You’ll find whatever I felt like writing that week. Essay, rant, short story, etc.

I’m in my late twenties, married to the most handsome, brilliant, and sweet man in world, Tyler Sky Trogden (sorry everyone). He is absoutely everything to me.

I am the 4th of nine children and am quite certain I have the greatest family ever as messy and imperfect as it is.

Some very important things you need to know about me:

  1. I think soda is gross. My tank runs on orange juice and ice water.
  2. My favorite song is Natalie Cole’s “This Will Be.” Just try to listen to it without happy dancing.
  3. The vast majority of the songs I listen to are from musicals.
  4. I LOVE books. I own way too many. It’s probably a fire hazard. Classics are preferred (Charles Dickens is the man! I find him incredibly hilarious), but there are some contemporary authors I can stand as well.
  5. I teach ESL online and piano.
  6. I really love food. I love to cook healthy food (and occasional unhealthy food). Eight out of ten times I am looking at my phone and my husband asks what I’m looking at, it’s a recipe.
  7. I write stories in my head while I go to sleep.
  8. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and actively trying to be a better disciple of Jesus Christ.
  9. I hate parties. Like a lot. I would so much rather be home with my husband and a book…or movie.
  10. I speak in movie quotes. I think there is a Jane Austen quote that perfectly fits 99% of life’s situations.
  11. I have no children, but I have 12 nieces and 11 nephews, so you know, I’m basically a parenting expert now.
  12. I’m sort of…indoorsy. The outdoors is a mystery that quite frankly terrifies me. However, I’m grateful for a more adventurous husband who makes me try new things. We’ve been camping, hiking, and kayaking, and I have found I do actually like it! I draw the line at rock climbing or cave diving. Heights and darkness? No thanks.
  13. I don’t have my ears pierced. Never did. Never will.
  14. I have cried in only 3 books in my life – Work and the Glory: No Unhallowed Hand, Little Women (I adore that book), and The Chronicles of Narnia: The Last Battle.
  15. I speak Spanish and English, but mostly English.
  16. Disnleyland is my happy place.
  17. I really hate going to bed. I am a bit like a 2-year-old when my husband suggests we go to bed. I may need to be admitted somewhere.
  18. I don’t like pets. Several of you are now unfollowing me. I mean I like animals from a distance, but I REALLY hate the way animals smell and getting their hair all over my life. I just don’t think that the good pets bring is worth the headache they are. My poor husband and future children.
  19. I am not a picky eater, but split pea soup? No.
  20. I can’t swim. I can sort of not drown.

Tyler and I are currently on an adventure as he works on his Master’s degree in Math at Montana State University. I’m tagging along, working, cooking, and writing. Feel free to join me!
